Indian Railways turns exporter at the international level as it exports locomotives, coaches, and propulsion components to over 16 countries and emerges as a reliable participant in global railway supply chains.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the achievement by flagging off the first locomotive for Export to the Republic of Guinea at the Marhowra Locomotive Plant. That ceremonial act indicated India’s zeal for looking beyond domestic requirements and catering to overseas customers.

Exports include metro coaches for Canada and Australia, bogies for the UK, Saudi Arabia, and France, propulsion sets for Mexico and Spain, passenger coaches for Mozambique and Sri Lanka. Locos also operate in Bangladesh, Senegal, and Myanmar.
Indian Railways gathers steam at Marhowra facility
Marhowra exports six locomotives to Guinea after order for 150 Evolution Series locomotives going to Africa. Each 4,500-horsepower engine provides reliability and performance in demanding climates, enhancing purchaser confidence globally.
