For the following years, from 2025 to 2028, the introduction of another 359 units of rolling stock is planned, including both electric and diesel locomotives.
One of the key steps to implement this plan was the signing of a framework agreement with the Chinese company CRRC.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kazakhstan has the opportunity to purchase up to 200 mainline and shunting locomotives of Chinese production for a total amount of up to $1.3 billion.
Additionally, the establishment of service centers and an engineering center in the country is envisaged to maintain and support the new rolling stock.
These measures aim to modernize and improve Kazakhstan’s transportation infrastructure, contributing to economic development and enhancing logistics efficiency in the region.
