In Kazakhstan, construction has begun on a new railway to China

In the Abay region, the construction of a double-track railway line ‘Bakhty – Ayagoz’ with a length of 272 kilometers has been initiated, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The completion and commissioning are planned by 2027.
Astana anticipates that this railway will increase the capacity between Kazakhstan and China by 71.4%, from 28 million to 48 million tons per year.
Switching traction modes while trains are in motion
Kazakh specialists will build 11 stations, 47 bridges, 23 railway, and 8 road overpasses, five pedestrian bridges, and 16 observation structures.
During the construction of the new railway in Kazakhstan, a third railway crossing at the border with China, ‘Bakhty – Chuguchak,’ will also be opened.
