IronLev: an innovative maglev prototype

This tender is one of the largest in the history of the French railway industry and demonstrates the government’s strategic course to increase investments in railway infrastructure.

The winners include companies such as Eiffage/Captrain, Colas Rail/TSO, and ETF, which will carry out works on various sections of the network.

– Lot 1: Eiffage/Captrain consortium (switch replacement on conventional lines);

– Lot 2: Joint venture Colas Rail/TSO (ballast replacement on high-speed lines);

– Lot 3: ETF company (track superstructure replacement on high-traffic sections);

– Lot 4: Eiffage/Captrain consortium (track superstructure replacement on the remaining network).

The average age of railway infrastructure components in France is around 30 years, and the government regularly invests funds in their renewal. In 2024, 3.2 billion euros are allocated for this purpose.

Within 1600 projects, the reconstruction of 1064 km of track and the renewal of 492 switches are planned.

Approximately 30,000 workers and hundreds of railway industry enterprises are involved in carrying out these works.
