Trains are designed for the 13-kilometer M12 line with 11 stations in total. Authorities plan to open the route by year-end, with five-minute intervals.
The route will receive 10 four-car trains, similar to those on the M8 line. These trains successfully launched into operation on M8 in 2023.
Each train, 86 meters long and 2.9 Meters wide, holds 1081 passengers comfortably. Trains accelerate to 80 kilometers per hour, ensuring smooth and efficient travel.
Unmanned Trains of Istanbul: Contract and Localization
Hyundai Rotem signed a $316 million contract in December 2017 for production. The deal includes supplying 300 cars for several metro lines in Istanbul.
Turkey’s production localization reaches 50%, boosting the country’s economy significantly. Thus, the joint venture with Türasaş actively enhances regional transport infrastructure.
New trains will improve mobility for Istanbul residents as metro demand grows. City authorities expect the M12 line to attract numerous daily passengers.
Production progresses rapidly, and Hyundai Rotem meets all delivery deadlines consistently. The Eurotem factory shows high efficiency, yet tests will verify train reliability.
The M12 line will become a vital part of the city’s transport network. Hence, residents eagerly await the launch of autonomous trains by year-end.
Trains feature modern technology, and this ensures passenger safety during every trip. The company aims to meet the metropolis’s needs since metro is crucial.
Istanbul advances transport modernization, and unmanned trains accelerate this effort significantly. New trains provide fast, convenient travel for thousands of people daily.
Completing this project strengthens Hyundai Rotem’s position in Turkey’s transport market. And Istanbul authorities anticipate long-term collaboration with the Korean manufacturer.
