Additionally, harmful emissions are cut by 45% to 83%, making these locomotives significantly more eco-friendly. Once certified under the Customs Union Technical Regulation TR CU 001/2011, they will begin operating on KTZ’s network.

Modern hybrid locomotives cut costs and noise

An intelligent control system optimizes traction and improves operational efficiency. This approach reduces maintenance expenses and supports KTZ’s rolling stock modernization strategy.

The CKD6H was developed over 14 months and is based on a new locomotive platform introduced by CRRC in 2024. It reflects the growing focus on lowering carbon emissions in the rail sector.

Hybrid locomotive supply boosts China-Kazakhstan ties

The CRRC contract strengthens rail technology cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. Future plans include local assembly and technical knowledge exchange between both countries.

Hybrid locomotives support sustainable development goals and help improve environmental performance. Their introduction marks a significant milestone in renewing KTZ’s fleet.
