Hitachi Rail: New British Rail Class 805 Evero Trains
03.06.2024
The British operator Avanti West Coast has launched new British Rail Class 805 Evero trains, manufactured by the Japanese company Hitachi Rail, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These innovative diesel-electric trains represent a significant step forward in the development of rail transport in the United Kingdom.
The new fleet will comprise 23 trains, including 10 seven-car Class 807 models and 13 five-car Class 805 models.
The new trains are based on the Hitachi A-train platform, which has already proven to be reliable and efficient.
The trains have a maximum speed of 200 km/h, significantly reducing travel times on popular routes.
Class 807 trains can accommodate 453 passengers, including 49 first-class seats and 404 second-class seats.
In turn, Class 805 trains are designed for 301 passengers, with 25 first-class seats and 276 second-class seats.
This seat distribution meets the needs of both business travelers and regular passengers.
All trains are manufactured at the Hitachi Newton Aycliffe plant in England, emphasizing the importance of local production and job creation in the region.
The new trains will replace the outdated Class 221 diesel-electric trains, which have been in operation since 2002 on routes between London, Birmingham, and stations on the North Wales coast.
The contract for the supply of 23 new trains was signed between Avanti West Coast and Hitachi Rail in 2019, with a total value of £350 million.
The initial plan was to introduce the new trains into service in 2023, but the timeline was pushed to 2024 due to issues identified during static testing.
The introduction of the new Evero trains will not only improve the quality of passenger transport but also contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of rail transport through the use of modern diesel-electric technologies.
This is an important step towards environmentally friendly and sustainable transport.
The new Evero trains have already received positive reviews from both passengers and rail experts, who praise their comfort, reliability, and modern technological solutions.
The deployment of these trains promises to significantly enhance the convenience and efficiency of rail transport in the United Kingdom.
