Malaysia Rail Projects Focus on Innovation and Growth

The two companies will co-develop digital tools for predictive maintenance. These tools will allow faster responses to technical issues and reduce service disruptions for passengers.

At the same time, Hitachi Rail and Prasarana will launch joint research projects that support sustainable railway engineering. These efforts align with Malaysia’s broader goals for carbon-conscious infrastructure.

Since 1998, Hitachi Rail has supplied advanced rail technologies to Malaysia. The company recently introduced an Integrated Control Center to manage three lines, further improving coordination and safety.

Malaysia’s Workforce Development Tied to Rail Expansion

In line with the National TVET Policy 2030, the partnership includes initiatives to train local talent. The goal is to build a future-ready workforce with industry-aligned skills for rail operations.

Both partners aim to invest in human capital, offering opportunities for Malaysian engineers and technicians to gain expertise through structured learning and real-world projects.

Hitachi Rail Managing Director Ziad Rizk highlighted the long-standing collaboration with Prasarana. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to helping Malaysia modernize its transport systems through innovation and knowledge transfer.

The MoU also opens the door for international cooperation, allowing the partners to explore rail opportunities outside Malaysia and increase their global reach.

By combining smart technology with local development, this agreement marks a pivotal step in Malaysia’s journey toward a more efficient, skilled, and sustainable rail sector.
