Hitachi has reached a significant milestone in its contribution to the transformation of the UK’s rail network by launching its 300th train, as reported by the railway news portal Railway Supply.

This landmark train, the 807 model for Avanti West Coast, has become a part of British railway history.

The journey began with the Class 395 Javelin train, which rolled off the production line in June 2009. Over 15 years of active service, Hitachi has reshaped the UK’s railways by introducing its trains across the country, from the southern coast of Penzance to the northern reaches of Scotland.
Among the many trains produced by Hitachi, some models have made key contributions to the development of various regions.
For example, the Class 385 trains operate in central Scotland as the region’s fastest suburban trains.
The high-speed Class 395 trains are the fastest passenger trains in the UK, connecting St Pancras with other major cities.
Hitachi Rail’s revolutionary technologies have become synonymous with reliability. According to statistics, their trains perform three times more reliably than the industry average.

The total distance covered by these trains annually is equivalent to more than 100 trips to the Moon and back, showcasing their outstanding performance.
The high operational standards of Hitachi trains have repeatedly been recognized with awards, including for the Azuma models on the London North Eastern Railway and the Class 385 trains on ScotRail.
To ensure high reliability, the company has invested heavily in infrastructure and the creation of modern service centers located in key areas of the country – Ashford, Doncaster, and Stoke Gifford.
These centers are equipped with digital monitoring and data analysis systems, maintaining high safety and efficiency standards.
More than 2,100 specialists work at the company’s maintenance facilities. Thanks to their efforts and a developed supply chain, Hitachi contributes up to £500 million to the UK economy annually.
Hitachi Rail has also expanded its capabilities by acquiring the ground transportation systems business from Thales, increasing its workforce to 24,000 employees.
As a result of this deal, the company has strengthened its position in the signaling systems market. The SelTrac™ system, developed by Hitachi Rail, controls 60% of London’s transportation network, ensuring safety and precision for millions of passengers.
