This extensive 286-kilometer project aims not only to modernize the region’s transport network but also to significantly reduce carbon emissions by over 150,000 tons annually.

As part of this project, British Steel commits to delivering tens of thousands of tons of high-quality rails, with the first deliveries expected in the second quarter of 2024.

The rails will be produced in Scunthorpe from R260 grade steel, with each section being 36 meters long.

Such quality and length of rails will ensure the reliability and durability of the new railway.

The project is supported by the UK government’s export credit agency, UK Export Finance (UKEF), which has allocated €781 million (£680 million) in funding through its buyer credit line.

With this support, Rönesans Holding will undertake the construction of the railway on behalf of Turkey’s Ministry of Transport.

The high-speed railway between Mersin and Gaziantep will become an important part of expanding Turkey’s transport network, significantly improving connections between the region’s key cities.

This project also helps strengthen economic and environmental ties between Turkey and the United Kingdom, demonstrating how international cooperation can promote the development of sustainable infrastructure.

The high-speed railway project will not only enhance transport accessibility and travel speed in the region but also mark a significant step in combating climate change by reducing carbon emissions.

This is an example of how modern technological solutions can go hand in hand with environmental initiatives.

The collaboration between British Steel, UKEF, and Rönesans Holding exemplifies how the private sector and government agencies can unite to achieve common goals in infrastructure and sustainable development.

The high-speed railway project in Turkey is an important step towards modernizing the country’s transport network and reducing environmental impact.

It also strengthens international relations and showcases the potential for effective cooperation in global infrastructure.
