Hamburg–Berlin corridor reopening is scheduled for 14 June, when DB InfraGO will bring the full route back into service after extensive renewal work on one of Germany’s busiest intercity rail corridors.

Services after the Hamburg–Berlin corridor reopening

Train services will again run over the full corridor between Hamburg and Berlin⁠ from that date. The reopening will also end the replacement bus services introduced during the major route renewal.

Regional trains are set to return to the regular timetable from 14 June. Freight capacity on the Hamburg–Berlin corridor and its connecting access routes will also be restored in full.

Long-distance trains will resume operations as well, although DB InfraGO will apply minor timetable changes until 30 June. These adjustments are linked to the final approval process and load testing for new signalling and interlocking technology on the section between Hagenow Land and Berlin-Spandau.

DB InfraGO said all planned long-distance trains will run at full capacity. During the first days after the corridor reopens, some sections will still have temporary speed restrictions, affecting only long-distance trains.

Renewal works on the Hamburg–Berlin line

The main infrastructure renewal on the corridor has now been completed. Since 1 August 2025, DB InfraGO has renewed 165 kilometres of track, 249 switches, seven new crossovers, 678 signals and 25 platforms⁠ on the Hamburg–Berlin line.

Work was also carried out at 28 stations along the route. Some station works will continue after the reopening because weather-related restrictions earlier in the year prevented all remaining tasks from being completed on schedule.

Station accessibility restrictions remain

Because of this, platforms at Müssen, Nauen, Falkensee and Albrechtshof will remain temporarily either not fully accessible or accessible only with restrictions. At Nauen, Falkensee and Albrechtshof, passengers with reduced mobility are being advised to contact the mobility service centre⁠ to arrange an individual travel solution.

DB InfraGO said it is working to finish the outstanding station works as quickly as possible.
