Greenbrier Unveils GBX Training Tank Car for Rail Safety Education

Greenbrier has introduced a new educational model, the GBX Training Tank Car, to help rail industry professionals improve their understanding of tank car systems and safety features through hands-on instruction. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This innovative tank car features a built-in classroom with 15 seats and display racks holding real tank car parts like valves, gauges, and other critical components essential for inspection and training.

Access to the classroom will be provided via a front door, offering an easy transition for trainees. Cutaway sections in the tank shell will expose thermal protection systems, including heating coils and layered insulation.
Greenbrier will also equip the roof with demonstration hatches and a full safety railing. This allows learners to explore top fittings in a real-world configuration while maintaining safety standards during instruction.
Greenbrier Expands Training with Mobile Classroom Concept
The company plans to keep the GBX Training Tank Car at its own facilities and display it at major industry events. This mobile unit will serve both static and live demonstrations across North America.
Greenbrier’s existing catalog includes more than 30 tank car models. The new training car expands the company’s role in advancing workforce knowledge and ensuring safer rail operations.
