Greenbrier, a leading manufacturer of railroad equipment in the USA, finished the third fiscal quarter of 2024 with record-breaking results, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Greenbrier completed the third quarter of 2024 with record profit

For the quarter ending on May 31, 2024, the company reported a net profit of $34 million, equivalent to $1.06 per share, on total revenues of $820 million. This marks the highest earnings per share in the last 4.5 years.

The operating profit before interest, taxes, and depreciation (EBITDA) was $104 million, representing 13% of total quarterly revenue.

Greenbrier also expanded its leased railcar fleet by 600 units, bringing the total to 15,200 railcars with a utilization rate of approximately 99%.

The operational cash flow for the quarter reached $84 million, and new orders amounted to 6,300 railcars totaling $830 million.

During the third quarter, the company delivered 5,400 railcars.

Considering current market trends and production schedules, Greenbrier has updated its forecast for the 2024 fiscal year.

It anticipates delivery volumes of 23,500 to 24,000 railcars and revenues ranging from $3.5 billion to $3.6 billion.

Capital expenditures for production and maintenance are projected to be approximately $150 million and $15 million, respectively.

In the leasing and management services segment, gross leasing investments are forecasted at $340 million, including 2024 capital expenditures and the transfer of railcars to the leasing fleet manufactured and accounted for in 2023.

Expected equipment sales receipts are approximately $75 million.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian company “Interpipe” would supply wheels for Greenbrier.
