InnoTrans 2024, the leading railway technology exhibition, showcased breakthrough innovations across its vast 3.5-kilometer track, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The event featured impressive technologies from companies like Stadler, Siemens Mobility, Hyundai Rotem, CRRC, and Hitachi Rail, each presenting their latest developments.

Stadler brought its eco-friendly low-floor tram, CITYLINK, already set for deployment in Germany and Austria’s Saar transport system. This tram is a model of urban efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, Stadler’s FLIRT Akku, a battery-powered train commissioned by DB Regio, made a significant impression. As if that weren’t enough, the narrow-gauge train RS ZERO, which will begin trials soon in Switzerland and Germany, also captivated attention.
Innovative Railway Technologies at InnoTrans 2024
Siemens Mobility introduced the Velaro, its latest high-speed train designed for Egypt, with an order of 41 units. The train’s combination of speed and energy efficiency sets a new standard in rail transport. Siemens also showcased the Mireo Smart, which can operate on both electricity and hydrogen, a significant leap forward in sustainable rail technology.
Hyundai Rotem’s H2 hydrogen tram, designed for South Korea, is another major milestone in hydrogen transport solutions. This tram is part of a broader shift toward green urban transportation. Hyundai also highlighted its double-decker trains for Australia, with 122 units scheduled for delivery under contracts secured in 2016 and 2021.
Other standout exhibits included the hydrogen-powered CINOVA H2 train from CRRC and Hitachi Rail’s upgraded ETR 1000, designed for Italy.
These innovations demonstrate the rail industry’s ongoing commitment to enhancing passenger comfort and environmental sustainability, showcasing a future where rail transport becomes faster, cleaner, and more efficient.
