TSI certification is crucial for exporting Modula locomotives to countries like Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. This standard ensures the safety and compatibility of the locomotives with the existing infrastructure. Hybrid shunting locomotives from Vossloh, equipped with various traction systems, are adaptable to diverse operational requirements.

Innovative Ideas for Passenger Experience on Rail Baltica

The Modula series includes several models, notably the hydrogen-powered Modula BFC, which attracted attention at InnoTrans 2024. Other versions feature different traction systems such as the EBB, powered by both overhead lines and batteries, or the BDD, which combines two diesel engines with battery power. All models can reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

Additionally, Vossloh introduced the DE 18 SmartHybrid locomotive at InnoTrans this year. This hybrid locomotive runs on biofuel, such as hydrotreated vegetable oil. It is equipped with a powerful battery system located under the floor, providing up to one hour of additional traction without recharging. Such innovations are helping the company expand its market and offer environmentally friendly solutions for railway operations.

Hydrogen and battery technologies are central to Vossloh’s development strategy. These solutions help reduce harmful emissions and improve the efficiency of shunting locomotives. TSI certification opens new opportunities for deploying hybrid locomotives across the EU.

Hybrid shunting locomotives from Vossloh represent the future of rail transport because they combine environmental benefits with advanced technological solutions. TSI certification will allow them to broaden their presence in European markets, enhancing railway systems.
