The project is based on the new format of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union. The European Investment Bank intends to finance the restructuring of infrastructure related to transport development.
Apart from the production activities, the Škoda Group will establish the Škoda Academy. This training center will increase the qualifications of the local technicians and engineers and speed up the implementation of the European standard in railway vehicles’ maintenance and operation.
Škoda Group CEO Petr Novotny stressed the importance of Uzbekistan as the country is currently actively developing its transport infrastructure and adopting innovative solutions. This investment in human capital would bring long-term effectiveness and improve the country’s industrial capabilities.
Škoda Group strengthens strategic partnership with Uzbekistan
Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov held negotiations with the representatives of the ŠKODA Group and considered the possibility of involving local contractors in the implementation of the project.
