CRRC’s facility in Jilin province hosts the test track, where the six-car train is running 2,500 kilometers to assess performance, noise, curve handling, and operational safety in motion.

To simulate real conditions, engineers loaded the train with water tanks and sandbags. These tests check its capacity, acceleration, and braking under full-load conditions.

Bogotá Metro Train Meets Capacity and Speed Benchmarks

Each trainset measures 134.25 meters in length and 2.9 meters in width, with an internal height of 2.12 meters. The train holds up to 1,800 passengers, 15% of whom can be seated.

With an average speed of 42.5 km/h, the Bogotá Metro system aims to improve daily mobility. The automated system requires no driver, increasing operational efficiency and reducing human error.

Earlier, static tests at the same CRRC factory were completed successfully. Now, the project advances toward readiness for public service.

Bogotá Metro Line 1 to Serve Millions Across the Capital

Bogotá Metro’s Line 1, now over 51% complete, will use these new trainsets. The 24 km route includes 16 stations, 10 of which will connect to the TransMilenio bus system.

The line is designed to carry 43,000 passengers per hour in each direction. It will directly benefit nearly 3 million residents in 78 neighborhoods across nine districts.

CRRC Changchun and Bogotá Metro signed a contract for 30 fully automated trains. The first units are expected to arrive in Bogotá this fall.

This project marks a major step in Bogotá’s urban transport transformation, offering modern, reliable, and high-capacity service to the growing capital.
