Rail Minister Hugh Merriman emphasized the potential impact of these projects on passenger service quality, from improving accessibility to better information dissemination.

FOAK winners this year focus particularly on accessibility, with six projects concentrating on innovations such as the Luna British Sign Language guide from Gomedia and real-time transcription of audio announcements from Televic UK.

Mike Biddle, Executive Director for Net Zero at Innovate UK, highlighted the competition’s goal – to create fairer conditions for travel, promoting accessibility, inclusivity, and innovation in the UK railway system.
