CAF intends to secure Modertrans only if officials greenlight a new painting facility. This upgrade will turn the Poznan plant into a full-cycle manufacturing hub.

The city of Poznan owns 15% of Modertrans shares, and MPK Poznań holds 85%. Initially, the deal will transfer the majority 85% stake to CAF.

Selling Modertrans seeks to expand production in Poznan and access international contracts. CAF’s global reach will drive growth for the Polish tram maker.

Previously, Swiss company Stadler and South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem targeted Modertrans. Now, CAF leads the race to acquire the thriving tram manufacturer.

Since launching in 2005, Modertrans has delivered over 520 trams across multiple platforms. Its Moderus Alfa, Beta, and Gamma trams serve cities worldwide.

Additionally, Modertrans upgrades trams and trains, bolstering its industry standing. In 2024, the firm earned 300 million zlotys ($76.9 million).

CAF Acquisition Modertrans Enhances Market Reach

This deal could solidify CAF’s dominance in Europe’s competitive rail sector. Meanwhile, Modertrans gains cutting-edge tech and broader opportunities through the partnership.

Poznan authorities view this sale as a way to elevate local manufacturing strength. For CAF, it supports their goal to grow across European markets.

Negotiations between CAF and Poznan officials will shape the deal’s final terms soon. Both sides aim to craft an agreement benefiting production and jobs.

CAF Acquisition Modertrans Drives Innovation

A successful CAF acquisition Modertrans will integrate the firm into CAF’s global network. As a result, Poznan could emerge as a rail industry leader.

Modertrans’s tram-building expertise makes it a prime target for CAF’s ambitions. Thus, the collaboration promises fresh innovations and higher output levels.

The coming months will decide if CAF seals this strategic purchase triumphantly. For now, industry experts eagerly track this pivotal business move.
