Extra Trips Boost West Harbour–Niagara Falls GO Route
18.05.2025
Extra trips now enhance GO train service between West Harbour and Niagara Falls, following the completion of a key track connection at the Hamilton station. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

As of Saturday, six extra trips operate on weekends and four more run on weekdays, according to Metrolinx. The added frequency improves regional access and shortens travel time by up to eight minutes.

Previously, trains had to reverse in and out of West Harbour station due to the lack of a connecting westbound track, which caused delays and inefficiencies.
Now, with the new connection in place, GO trains move directly through the station. This change eliminates the need for reversing maneuvers, making trips smoother and faster for riders.
Extra Trips Improve Efficiency and Access
GO trains from Niagara Falls and St. Catharines can now stop at West Harbour, increasing service flexibility for passengers traveling within the region.
Before this upgrade, service from West Harbour was limited to hourly departures toward Toronto only, with no direct connections from Niagara-bound trains.
The project also supports the future integration of the Confederation GO station, currently under construction in East Hamilton. That station is expected to open later this year.
New Track Enables Extra Trips and Future Expansion
The new infrastructure not only enables extra trips but also prepares the corridor for long-term growth. It connects the Lakeshore West line to additional urban areas, expanding Metrolinx’s regional reach.
This development is part of a larger strategy to improve Southern Ontario’s rail system. By increasing train frequency and cutting travel times, Metrolinx aims to provide a more reliable and efficient transit experience.
Together, these upgrades reflect a broader commitment to strengthening rail connectivity, enhancing service quality, and supporting the future of regional transportation.
