Extra train services added for Wembley-bound fans

Birmingham City supporters are heading to London in huge numbers for the much-anticipated final, and train operators have added extra train services to meet rising demand.

More than 40,000 fans plan to attend the match, so London Northwestern Railway (LNR) will run over 20 trains from the region to London. The new schedule includes additional departures offering around 13,000 seats.

Chiltern Railways has also expanded its service from Warwick Parkway to London Marylebone. However, it will skip several regular stops to increase capacity.

On Saturday, Chiltern trains will not stop at Birmingham Moor Street, Solihull, Dorridge, Lapworth, Hatton, or Warwick. To assist passengers from these areas, a limited rail replacement will operate from Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon.

Extra train services reroute to improve capacity

LNR advised fans at Stechford, Lea Hall, and Marston Green to begin their trips at Birmingham New Street. Trains from smaller stations may already be full when they arrive.

From New Street, both LNR and Avanti West Coast offer direct trains to London Euston. Fans can then use the London Underground to reach Wembley Stadium.

Excitement continues to grow across the fanbase. Among the travelers is comedian Jasper Carrott. Also making headlines is Chris Jay, a supporter flying over 4,000 miles from Atlanta, Georgia.

Jay explained that after moving to the U.S. in 2021, he told his wife that Wembley appearances are rare for Blues fans, so missing it was not an option.

Celebrations began early as Birmingham City secured the League One title. The title win came after Wrexham failed to defeat Wigan on Saturday, confirming the Blues as champions.
