Express Service OOD shipped the first battery locomotive for the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria
29.07.2024
The first battery locomotive produced by the Bulgarian company Express Service OOD has been delivered to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The ES3000 series locomotive was unloaded at the Sofia locomotive depot.
Specialists from the manufacturer conducted training on the operation and maintenance of the battery locomotive, as well as test exams.
During the energy efficiency check, conducted at the request of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria (MTC), the locomotive showed excellent results: 12 kW/km with a 385-ton load.
This means that operating costs are about $1.67 per kilometer, which is an excellent indicator for this type of shunting operations.
Despite a decade-long delay, modernization of depot operations in Bulgaria remains possible.
The project is supported by funding from the MTC and the European Commission, as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan aimed at zero-emission technologies.
The ES3000 locomotive is the first of nine to be delivered under the contract.
Initially, it was planned to purchase 18 battery locomotives, but after changing the technical specifications, the auction for the remaining nine was unsuccessful.
Regardless of your requirements, Express Service offers shunting locomotives that combine power, efficiency, and environmental safety. Contact us today and secure a reliable partner for all shunting tasks at your enterprise!
The company is expanding, and in September 2024, it plans to participate in the InnoTrans 2024 exhibition, where all potential customers will be able to familiarize themselves with the diesel and battery locomotives produced by Express Service OOD.
