The East-West Gate (EWG) group has successfully enhanced transport operations with EWG’s New Tank Wagons.

EWG’s New Tank Wagons Support Sustainable Transport

EWG has integrated these modern wagons into its logistics operations to improve sustainability and efficiency. The company operates Europe’s largest intermodal terminal in Fényeslitke, near the Ukrainian border. This strategic hub handles one million TEUs annually, optimizing the flow of goods across European railway networks.

The terminal features advanced technology, including remote-operated cranes and a 3D real-time tracking system. Additionally, it incorporates eco-friendly infrastructure, such as heat pump systems, aligning with EU climate goals. These initiatives position EWG as a leader in sustainable freight logistics, reducing environmental impact while improving transport capabilities.

Efficiency Gains with EWG’s New Tank Wagons

EWG has leased 120 cutting-edge Wascosa wagons to enhance its agricultural and energy commodity transport services. The fleet consists of 60 Green Freight Car® grain wagons, delivered in spring 2024, and 60 Green Tank Car® wagons, received in summer. These lightweight wagons significantly improve payload capacity and operational efficiency.

The tank wagons have a 98-cubic-meter capacity, weigh under 22 tons, and transport up to 68 tons of liquid cargo. Similarly, grain wagons hold 95 cubic meters, with a tare weight of 20 tons, allowing for payloads up to 70 tons. Their reduced weight lowers fuel consumption and transport costs, making them an economical solution for businesses.

Expanding Rail Transport Across Europe

EWG Rail, the group’s railway service provider, facilitates wagon movement across Hungary and neighboring countries. The company holds a national license, ensuring broad operational coverage and efficient cargo transport. Its services extend beyond standard freight, including hazardous materials and refrigerated goods.

The new fleet already benefits key agricultural markets, optimizing supply routes for Ukrainian crude vegetable oil exports to Italy. Additionally, Hungarian and Ukrainian grain shipments move cost-effectively, demonstrating the advantages of EWG’s modernized freight solutions. These strategic improvements support sustainable growth in European rail logistics.

Strengthening Sustainability and Cargo Transparency

EWG is committed to sustainability and transparency in freight transport. The company has introduced special labels on wagons to certify non-fossil-based cargo, ensuring compliance with EU environmental regulations. This initiative reinforces EWG’s commitment to eco-friendly operations while enhancing customer confidence.

By investing in advanced infrastructure and sustainable transport solutions, EWG continues to set new standards in intermodal logistics. The combination of modern technology, efficient wagons, and strategic operations solidifies its position as a leader in European freight transport.
