The European Commission has initiated an investigation into the Chinese company CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive Co. on suspicion of receiving unjustified foreign subsidies, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Euro Commission: Investigation into Chinese Company CRRC

This relates to CRRC’s participation in a tender for the supply and maintenance of electric locomotives in Bulgaria.

The starting price of the contract was significantly lower due to CRRC’s offer, which caught the attention of the European Commission in the context of new regulations on foreign investment control in the EU.

The European Commission emphasized the need for notification of participation in tenders by foreign companies that have received significant subsidies and indicated readiness to annul tender results in case of violations.
