This significant milestone was highlighted by Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Managing Director and CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), emphasizing the future use of the route by ADNOC personnel.
While this is a demonstration trip, as passenger services are still in development, it marks a crucial moment for the extensive project that commenced freight operations on the network after its completion in February 2023.
Construction began in early 2016, and since then, 900 km of track has been laid across all seven emirates of the country, connecting with neighboring Oman and Saudi Arabia.
When passenger services commence, trains with a capacity of 400 passengers will travel at speeds of up to 200 km/h.
The routes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai will take 50 minutes, while journeys from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah will take 100 minutes.
