CAF: Contract for the Supply of Modern Metro Trains for Madrid

Currently, work on fitting out the interior of the new train is being completed at the Elron depot.

The 21Ev electric train, produced in February at the Ostrava plant, is a three-car dual-system train based on the traditional platform of partially low-floor single-deck trains of the Skoda Group – the 7Ev (also known as RegioPanter).

These trains combine advanced technologies and passenger convenience, making them suitable for both suburban and long-distance routes.

According to current contracts, Skoda Group is obliged to deliver 16 such units to Elron by 2027.

The total contract value is €147 million. Of these 16 trains, 11 will be used on long-distance routes, and the remaining 5 on suburban routes.

The introduction of the new trains is expected to significantly improve transportation in the country, offering more comfortable and efficient solutions for passenger transport.

Earlier this year, Skoda Group faced issues with the delivery of new electric trains in Latvia, where operational difficulties arose.

However, all delivered rolling stock is now in operation, indicating the resolution of issues and the potential for successful use of the new trains in other Baltic countries.
