The partnership’s pilot project begins at Deendayal Port in Kandla, Gujarat. DMRC will oversee operations and maintenance for 25 years, while BEML designs autonomous electric pods to move freight safely and cleanly through dedicated guideways.
UMEANDUS Technologies builds the digital architecture that links smart vehicles with real-time data, predictive analytics, and automated scheduling. DPA integrates the system with port infrastructure, preparing the concept for expansion to other maritime hubs.
Enhanced Freight Transport System and India’s Maritime Vision
The system will drastically reduce turnaround time, energy use, and logistics costs. It also enhances safety, operational reliability, and environmental performance—key goals of the Maritime India Vision 2030.
Unveiled during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, the initiative demonstrates a united commitment to digitalization and decarbonization. Officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways endorsed the project’s role in shaping sustainable logistics.
By combining DMRC’s infrastructure expertise, BEML’s engineering capabilities, and UMEANDUS’s AI platforms, India moves toward a smarter, cleaner, and faster freight ecosystem. The initiative positions the country as a global model for intelligent port automation.
