The project is funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, supported by the EU and covering the period from 2021 to 2026.

The new trams will be 20.8 meters long, with four double doors, and will accommodate up to 115 passengers.

The trams will also be equipped with ramps for people with disabilities and USB ports.

“These trams will be the first new vehicles to appear on Zagreb’s streets in the last 15 years,” Tomašević noted, adding that the first deliveries are expected in the spring of next year.

However, this is just the beginning of a major transformation in the city’s transport system.

The Zagreb Mayor emphasized that by the end of the year, ZET will announce a tender for the purchase of 40 longer low-floor trams, with a total cost of around €120 million.

The total investment in upgrading the rolling stock will reach €200 million, significantly improving the quality and reliability of public transport in the Croatian capital.
