Alstom Expands Production in Spain to Supply Trains for Germany, Sweden, and UK

Alstom expands its manufacturing site in northern Spain to supply trains for Europe’s railway networks. This contract includes projects in Germany, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Alstom Secures Major Contracts for European Rail Networks
This new order includes 61 commuter trains for Deutsche Bahn, strengthening Germany’s transport infrastructure. In addition, 39 medium-distance trains will enhance Sweden’s Västtrafik regional services.

Alstom will also deliver 85 modern trains for London Underground’s Central line, improving passenger experience. These projects reinforce the company’s role in Europe’s railway modernization efforts.
Alstom Invests in Facility Expansion and Innovation
Alstom’s Basque Country facility recently expanded, adding workshops for railway equipment maintenance. By December 2024, the site integrated machinery for repairing traction converters, power modules, and motor fans.
These improvements allow the facility to manage complex projects while maintaining high efficiency. The company prioritizes technological advancements to meet Europe’s evolving transportation needs.
New projects complement previous work, including traction systems for Iryo’s high-speed trains. Additionally, the facility contributed to Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa trains and French regional railway networks.
Other completed projects involve German commuter train traction systems and trams in Brussels, Zurich, Graz, and Berlin. Alstom continues leading European rail transport development with cutting-edge solutions.
