Production of solid-rolled wheels made in Russia decreased by 6.9% in the first quarter

The total volume of Russian-made solid-rolled wheels for freight cars, manufactured in three months, decreased by 21.7%,  reports Railway Supply magazine, citing Gudok.

Association of Railway Equipment Manufacturers presented preliminary data on the production of components for rolling stock by enterprises of the metallurgical complex of Russia from January 2020 to March 2020.

For the first quarter of this year, the following goods were produced: solid-rolled wheels for freight cars – 390,718 units (-21.7% compared to January-March 2020), including 339,760 wheels made in the Russian Federation (-6.9%), side frames – 69,867 pieces (-21.6%), bolsters – 35375 units (-17.6%).

According to preliminary data, the production of solid-rolled wheels produced in the Russian Federation in 2020 decreased by 20.9%, to 1,107,012 pieces. The total volume of manufactured solid-rolled wheels for freight cars decreased by 17.8% to 1,463,052 units.
