Vossloh Rolling Stock at InnoTrans 2024: Hybrid Locomotives with Hydrogen and Battery Technologies
20.08.2024
At the upcoming InnoTrans 2024 exhibition, which will take place in September, Vossloh Rolling Stock will showcase a range of the latest developments in railway transport, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Among them are three locomotives featuring innovative technologies aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability.
Where at InnoTrans can you see battery-powered shunting locomotives?
The first exhibit, the Modula BFC locomotive, is equipped with a hybrid traction system that combines battery storage and hydrogen fuel cells.
This locomotive will be used at the Duisburg Gateway Terminal (DGT), one of Europe’s largest intermodal hubs, which is actively implementing zero-emission technologies. The Modula BFC represents a step towards a carbon-free future for rail transport.
Another significant exhibit will be the hybrid Modula EBB locomotive. It is equipped with two traction lithium-titanate batteries, each with a capacity of 175 kWh.
This model is distinguished by its high energy efficiency and ability to ensure stable operation under various operating conditions.
Another novelty will be the DE 18 SmartHybrid locomotive, which runs on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).
The locomotive is equipped with an underfloor battery, allowing it to operate autonomously for one hour.
This solution is ideal for use in conditions where access to traditional energy sources is limited or unavailable.
Along with Vossloh Rolling Stock, other major players in the railway market, such as Siemens, Knorr-Bremse, and Stadler, will also present their advanced technologies at InnoTrans 2024.
Express Service OOD (Bulgaria) will present a line of battery-powered shunting locomotives, including the ES3000 and ES1000 models. These locomotives are characterized by high environmental friendliness, low noise levels, and the absence of harmful emissions.
Each of the presented solutions not only demonstrates high technological standards but also underscores the companies’ commitment to developing environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technologies.
These developments are designed to ensure a more sustainable future for rail transport in Europe and worldwide.
The exhibition promises to be an important platform for showcasing the latest achievements in railway transport and technologies.
