In addition, ONCF has signed a second contract with the Chinese company Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge for the supply of railway turnouts for a conventional railway line running parallel to the new high-speed route. This contract is worth 89.7 million dirhams ($9 million).
Morocco is actively modernizing its railway network in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Last year, ONCF announced plans to purchase 168 new trains, including 18 trains intended for use on the new high-speed line. Negotiations began in September with the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem regarding a potential contract for rolling stock supply.
These initiatives are part of a comprehensive program to upgrade Morocco’s railway infrastructure, aimed at improving transportation accessibility and infrastructure conditions in the country.
