Virginia has granted $175,000 to Hitachi Energy for improving rail infrastructure at its Halifax facility. This funding will support track rehabilitation, enhancing freight movement and reducing road congestion. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Virginia Supports Rail Infrastructure Expansion
The grant will help rehabilitate 1,000 feet of track, improving logistics for oversized transformers. DRPT officials emphasized that these upgrades will streamline rail transport and enhance operational efficiency.

Hitachi Energy plans to invest $26 million in its Halifax County site, expanding capacity. Halifax County Industrial Development referred this significant project to DRPT for evaluation and approval.
Virginia’s Commitment to Freight Efficiency
The initiative is expected to add 50 rail cars annually, significantly reducing truck shipments. This transition will improve overall freight logistics while easing congestion on major highways.
The Rail Industrial Access Program encourages businesses to shift from road to rail transport. By expanding access, the program strengthens economic development and supports sustainable infrastructure improvements.
