Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains to Serve Rising Demand

On April 17, Train No. 06579 departed SMVT Bengaluru at 11:55 p.m. and will reach Mangaluru Junction by 4:00 p.m. the next day. The return service, Train No. 06580, will leave Mangaluru on April 20 at 2:10 p.m., arriving in Bengaluru by 7:30 a.m. on April 21.

The summer special features 1 First AC coach, 2 AC two-tier, 4 AC three-tier coaches, 7 sleeper class, 4 general compartments, and 2 brake vans with facilities for differently-abled passengers.

These services aim to ease crowding and offer more options for tourists heading to Karnataka’s scenic coast. South Western Railway has timed the move strategically for the summer rush.

Vande Bharat Sleeper to Transform Coastal Travel

Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna announced that a new Vande Bharat Sleeper service is being prepared for Mangaluru. The sleeper version will offer higher speeds, modern amenities, and better comfort.

This development is set to redefine long-distance train travel, especially for overnight routes. The Vande Bharat Sleeper will serve as a major upgrade from conventional services.

Mangaluru also saw the launch of its first Vande Bharat Express on the coastal route to Madgaon. This new service connects two key hubs and improves travel between Karnataka and Goa.

Though the route avoids Karnataka’s central areas, it brings the Vande Bharat brand to the coastline for the first time. This step is expected to boost both regional tourism and economic activity along the western coast.
