Unique Trams with Panoramic Roofs to Appear in Dnipro
10.08.2024
In Dnipro, the renovation of unique tram cars with panoramic roofs, a novelty for Ukraine, is nearing completion, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

At the end of last year, Leipzig offered to transfer these trams to Dnipro at a symbolic cost, effectively gifting them to the city.

Currently, work is ongoing in Dnipro to adapt the cars, which arrived from Leipzig earlier this year.
These updates are being carried out at the local tram repair workshop. So far, 26 such cars have been delivered to Dnipro.
They are already equipped with a modern energy-saving control system, allowing for up to 30% energy savings, along with upgraded interiors and improved lighting.

To date, the renovation of two cars has been completed, and they are now undergoing testing before being put into service on city routes.
During the major overhaul, the trams are being painted in accordance with the city’s design code, and the bogies are being replaced due to differences in track width between Ukrainian and European standards.
Following this, a full diagnostic of all equipment is conducted, and replacements are made as necessary.
Out of the 26 cars that arrived, two feature panoramic roofs, making them unique for Ukraine. Leipzig has not previously transferred such models.
These trams are expected to impress passengers and will primarily be used for sightseeing tours.

The cars will be equipped with an audio system to allow guides to share information about Dnipro’s landmarks.
The renovation is expected to be completed within the next three to four weeks, and by autumn, residents will be able to see the updated trams on the city’s streets.
