The SFF-CGT union has postponed strikes on Spain’s Iryo high-speed trains during the Christmas Holiday Season. This decision avoids disruptions for travelers as negotiations progress.

Why the Strikes Were Postponed During Christmas Holiday Season

The strikes, initially planned for 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31 December, and 1 January, were called off after discussions between unions and management. While CCOO, Alferro, and Semaf unions accepted the company’s offer, the SFF-CGT union chose to defer its demands temporarily.

The agreed-upon proposal provides workers with a daily allowance of €12 and a night bonus of €2.70. However, the SFF-CGT union had demanded €14.50 and €8 respectively. Talks continue, with a focus on addressing these remaining disagreements.

Company’s Commitment During the Christmas Holiday Season

Iryo’s CEO Simone Gorini described the initial strike plans as “nonsense” and assured customers that services would remain uninterrupted. He emphasized the company’s commitment to resolving disputes while protecting passenger travel experiences.

A joint statement from Iryo’s parent companies, Trenitalia, Air Nostrum, and Globalvia, expressed appreciation for ongoing union discussions. The statement reaffirmed their goal to maintain a collaborative working environment and meet shared objectives with employees.

The postponement of strikes during the Christmas Holiday Season provides temporary relief for travelers. Both sides aim to finalize an agreement that ensures fair compensation for workers and seamless travel experiences for customers.
