This procurement will be carried out in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Bulgarian company Express Service is increasing sales volumes of shunting battery locomotives

The project, titled “Emergency Support for the Ukrainian Railways,” aims to modernize and improve the country’s transportation infrastructure.

According to the project, the locomotives will be procured according to international standards and EBRD requirements.

Contracts for the supply will be open to companies from any country unless otherwise specified in the tender documents.

This expands the opportunities for both local and international manufacturers to participate in the project, which promotes increased competition and better procurement conditions.

All necessary information about the tender is available on the official EBRD procurement portal ECEPP, where participants can review the details and conditions of the competition.

The procurement of new shunting locomotives is part of a broader plan to modernize Ukrzaliznytsia’s rolling stock fleet.

The investment project to renew the fleet of electric locomotives, supported by the EBRD, has already commenced.

Such collaboration with an international financial institution demonstrates a high level of trust and support from European partners and highlights the importance of modernizing railway infrastructure for Ukraine’s economic development.

Ukrzaliznytsia aims to enhance the efficiency and environmental sustainability of its operations.

Battery-powered shunting locomotives are a step towards sustainable development as they can significantly reduce emissions and lower operational costs.

Additionally, the new locomotives will provide greater reliability and flexibility in managing operations at stations and sorting hubs, ultimately leading to improved customer service and increased competitiveness in the railway transport market.
