new gondola cars

The Panyutinski Wagon Repair Plant manufactured and handed over 60 freight gondola cars to UZ. This was announced by the head of the company Alexander Kamyshin.

“We accept and put into operation 60 new freight gondola cars. On the one hand, this is not much, because we have a production program for this year – a construction program – this is 1,500 freight cars and 50 grain carriers. On the other hand, 60 railcars is five times more than Ukrzaliznytsia has built at all three wagon repair plants over the past three years,” Kamyshin said.

According to him, for many years in Ukraine the situation with the standard service life of freight cars has not been resolved, so the cars from neighboring countries, which have already exhausted their standard period, were brought to Ukraine for further operation, reports Railway Supply magazine.

“Currently, this has been decided at the level of the Ministry of Infrastructure. A new procedure has been developed, according to which in 10 years Ukraine must reach one standard operating life of the wagon, and this allows UZ to develop a 10-year program for the construction of wagons,” Kamyshin emphasized.

The head of UZ also added that in 2022, the Panyutinski Wagon Repair Plant will build a total of 714 gondola cars and 50 grain carriers.
