Ukrzaliznytsia has handed over the first rail bus from Pesa for the necessary periodic maintenance and modernization, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The maintenance and modernization of these vehicles will take place in Bydgoszcz, but most of the work will be carried out in Ukraine.
The Mexico City Metro Line, renovated by a Chinese company, has commenced operation
At the end of October, the first motor carriage, 620M, was delivered to Pesa in Bydgoszcz.
Pesa built these and slightly longer diesel carriages (630M) for the Ukrainian Railways between 2004 and 2008 (another unit was subsequently manufactured and sent to the now-occupied Crimea). There are a total of 10 of them now.
“We have a contract for the modernization and major overhaul of the first unit that was delivered to us. We are talking about a broader partnership and performing similar work on the rest of the equipment. We are also discussing the transfer of some responsibilities for servicing the Ukrainian Railways so that the work can be done on-site,” said Maciej Gżeszkowyak, responsible for communications at Pesa.
Evgeny Lyashchenko, Chairman of the Ukrzaliznytsia Board, admitted in an interview with “Rynek Kolejowy” on October 15 that negotiations with Pesa are underway for comprehensive servicing and modernization of Pesa carriages.
“We have Pesa rail buses in stock, and we are currently in negotiations with our Polish partner for their refurbishment and modernization. We see great potential in carriages that can perform the function of delivering from major transport hubs. Such compact carriages will be needed in the domestic market. Six three-section DPKr carriages have already been produced at the Krukovsky plant (they operate, among other things, from Lviv to Rava-Ruska). But needs and purchases are currently determined by the war, and I want to emphasize that,” said the Chairman of the Ukrzaliznytsia Board in an interview with “Rynek Kolejowy.”
