04.12.2023
The state-owned enterprise Ukrzaliznytsia plans to propose container transportation for vehicles blocked at the border, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Ukrzaliznytsia is discussing with the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine the option of transporting a portion of the goods blocked at the border by rail.
Implementation of an automatic brake testing system for freight trains
According to Ukrzaliznytsia representative Valeriya Tkacheva, one of the considered options is container transportation, where a truck is loaded onto a platform and transported by rail.
This is a new type of transportation for us, never having experienced significant demand,” explained the official.
However, he assured that in the conditions of border blockage for road transport, the railway is ready to become an alternative transportation route.
As reported earlier, Ukraine and Poland are exploring ways to unlock the border.
