Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ukrainian Railways, aided the Security Service of Ukraine in apprehending a Russian agent who was planning to sabotage railway infrastructure and disrupt the counteroffensive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

Ukrzaliznytsia helped

Thanks to the collaboration with the Office of the Director of Economic and Information Security of Ukrzaliznytsia, the SBU arrested a Russian agent who intended to carry out explosive acts on the railway in the Dnipropetrovsk region in order to thwart the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces.

It was revealed that this agent was an employee of a local railway station of Ukrzaliznytsia.

According to the Security Service, the man was recruited earlier this year by a personnel member of Russian military intelligence.

The traitor collected information about transportation routes and unloading locations of foreign military equipment used in counteroffensive operations by Ukrainian forces.

The hostile agent recorded coordinates of railway stations and bridges and extensively photographed the objects using his mobile phone to fulfill the aggressor’s mission.

This information was crucial for the occupiers to conduct air strikes in the region.

The Russian invaders also considered the possibility of carrying out subversive acts on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities with the involvement of the recruited agent.

The criminals were timely exposed.

During the search at the suspect’s place of residence, F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, a carbine, a large quantity of ammunition for firearms, and smoke grenades were discovered.

Based on the collected evidence, the SBU investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 111 (state treason committed under conditions of martial law) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives).

Currently, the traitor is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

Comprehensive measures were conducted by SBU officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region with the support of the Office of the Director of Economic and Information Security of Ukrzaliznytsia and under the guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
