Additionally, Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a program to update its fleet of cars for transporting diplomatic delegations, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This year, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to overhaul 42 passenger cars and has ordered the construction of 66 new ones, including 4 for passengers with disabilities.
Talgo has delivered its first Avril trains to Renfe after completing testing
The company also plans to modernize 15 suburban trains.
Furthermore, Ukrainian railway workers will refurbish an additional 6 cars for medical evacuation and the rescue of Ukrainian defenders by the end of 2024, making a total of 64 cars manufactured since the beginning of the war.
The diplomatic car fleet also requires updates.
Rather than purchasing new cars, a pragmatic decision has been made to focus on modernizing the existing fleet, aiming to improve functionality, communication, security, and autonomy.
After such upgrades, the cars will no longer carry attributes that would conflict with the image of modern Ukraine.
The focus is on minimal necessary functionality, practicality, the ability to work and conduct negotiations directly on board, and autonomy, allowing official delegations to visit various regions of Ukraine and assess the needs for reconstruction.
Ukrzaliznytsia will continue these updates and ensure the transportation of official delegations so that Ukraine can maintain essential contacts with the world despite the ongoing war.
