TXNW Completes Major Rail Interchange Upgrades in Texas
23.07.2025
TXNW has completed a major rail infrastructure upgrade in Etter, Texas, eliminating a key bottleneck and boosting operational efficiency across its network. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The $4.1 million project, funded partly by a federal CRISI grant, allows TXNW to handle longer, heavier trains. This investment strengthens interchange operations and supports regional freight growth.

TXNW Implements Advanced Rail Technology
Upgrades included new turnouts, crossovers, and extended sidings to enhance traffic flow between TXNW and BNSF’s Boise City subdivision. Crews also installed dual-tone multifrequency power-controlled switches, improving crew safety and reducing manual tasks.

Additionally, TXNW reinforced structures to support railcars up to 286,000 pounds. These steps enable efficient unit train assembly and provide shippers with greater operational flexibility.
TXNW Enhances Public Safety with Crossing Upgrades
The project improved grade crossings by adding advanced warning systems, swing gates, and extended alert times. These measures strengthen both rail and road safety, benefiting local communities and ensuring compliance with modern safety standards.
TXNW will celebrate the project’s completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in late August. Company leaders and local officials will join to highlight the economic benefits of these enhancements.
