Fares begin at just $15 each way for adults, with lower prices for shorter routes. Children, seniors, students, military personnel, and groups can access additional discounts, making the route affordable for many.

Train cars will feature spacious reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, Café service with local fare, and room for carry-ons, pets in carriers, and even golf bags. Coach and Business Class options ensure flexibility for different travel needs.

Local Leaders Celebrate Amtrak Mardi Gras Service

Mobile’s Mayor Sandy Stimpson praised the long-awaited return, calling it a key link to economic growth and regional connection. Mississippi Commissioner Charles Busby highlighted the opportunity for travelers to enjoy the Gulf Coast’s charm and scenery.

In New Orleans, officials hailed the train’s return as essential for tourism and community access. Transportation Secretary Glenn Ledet emphasized the rail’s importance for rebuilding sustainable travel options across Louisiana.

The Southern Rail Commission, which backed the route for decades, sees the launch as a victory for coastal cities. Chairman Knox Ross urged early ticket purchases, citing the line’s expected impact on jobs, education access, and tourism.

Amtrak Mardi Gras Service Offers Triple Rewards

Through November 18, Amtrak Guest Rewards members can earn triple points on this route. After completing three qualifying trips, travelers receive retroactive bonus points for all rides during the promotion.

Support from federal and local governments, including funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation, made the route possible. Lawmakers from Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana praised the launch as a major transportation milestone.

An inaugural train ride on August 16 will honor officials and community leaders. The Amtrak Mardi Gras Service now connects Gulf Coast cities with major routes to Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, marking a bold step forward for Southern rail travel.
