Türasaş unveils train nose design for 225 km/h speed

Türasaş unveiled the nose design of its 225 km/h train at the Eurasia Rail exhibition in Istanbul, highlighting the country’s growing role in domestic rail manufacturing. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The first eight-car trainset is currently being assembled at Türasaş’s Sakarya facility. The company plans to begin dynamic testing by the end of 2025.

This new model builds on an earlier 160 km/h platform but features enhanced traction and a redesigned structure to reach 225 km/h operation.
An aluminum body will reduce weight and improve energy efficiency. The train will accommodate 584 passengers, making it suitable for high-demand routes.
Türasaş upgraded platform and integrated TÜBİTAK RUTE systems
To meet higher speed targets, Türasaş upgraded the traction drive and incorporated new diagnostics and control systems developed by the TÜBİTAK RUTE research institute.
The train is designed to meet TSI standards, ensuring compatibility with European rail infrastructure and opening the door for potential export.
Türasaş to launch serial production starting in 2026
Turkey’s Minister of Transport, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, stated that 14 trainsets are planned for production between 2026 and 2028.
With a localization rate of 65%, the project will strengthen industrial self-sufficiency and accelerate the country’s advancement in railway engineering.
