Trenitalia c2c manages 35.8 million passenger journeys annually, making the Class 357 trains essential. This repainting initiative will maintain the fleet’s excellent service standards and operational efficiency.

The repainting is conducted in collaboration with Alstom at their Ilford depot, employing over 120 specialists. Alstom’s expertise ensures quality results, leveraging its long-standing knowledge of maintaining various train classes.

Each unit of the 74-train fleet will receive an external eco-friendly repaint using advanced hydro topcoats. This durable paint minimizes environmental impact while protecting against wear and tear.

Innovative Techniques in Trenitalia c2c’s Fleet Maintenance

Every Class 357 train undergoes a 20-day process involving repairs, restoration, and layer-by-layer repainting. These steps ensure the fleet remains reliable and corrosion-free for years to come.

Jeff Baker, c2c’s Head of Engineering, emphasized the importance of the repainting initiative for long-term fleet reliability. Peter Keighron of Alstom praised their team’s expertise and attention to detail in executing the project.

The first repainted train, 357207, is already in service, with 357005 scheduled to join next week. Over 24 months, this project will transform the entire fleet to ensure operational excellence.
