Alstom manufactures the Mark V fleet at facilities in Kingston, Ontario, and Quebec. Each unit travels 2,858 miles on flatbeds across Canada to Metro Vancouver.

At peak, over 280 workers contributed directly to the project, while local supply chains brought wider economic benefits. The fleet reflects Canada’s commitment to innovation in public transportation.

TransLink anticipates a 20% ridership increase on the Expo Line and a 50% rise on the Millennium Line during peak hours over the next five years. The Mark V fleet will meet this surge with better performance and comfort.

The project aligns with the Mayors’ Council 10-Year Vision and receives partial funding through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. Partners include the federal and provincial governments and TransLink.
