Trans-Caspian Route Sees Surge in Container Shipments in 2024

From January 1 to September 13, 200 container trains from China passed through Kazakhstan to the port of Aktau.

Opening of Duisburg Gateway Terminal: Europe’s Largest Inland Terminal

This was reported by Kazakhstan Railways. For comparison, only 11 container trains followed the Middle Corridor throughout 2023, highlighting a significant increase in transit volumes this year.

The route’s success is attributed to the reduced delivery times for container cargo.

Now, travel time has more than halved, making the route through Kazakhstan more attractive for shippers.

The Trans-Caspian route is becoming an important link for international logistics, connecting China and Europe via Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea.

The growth in shipment volumes also indicates the significant potential of the Middle Corridor.

Countries in the region are intensifying efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of transport corridors.

Kazakhstan plays a key role in ensuring stable and fast transit, which positively impacts trade between Asia and Europe.

The development of container transit on Kazakhstan’s railways continues to gain momentum.

This is becoming an important element of the strategy to transform the country into a major transport and logistics hub in the region.

Given the growing demand for fast and reliable delivery routes, the Middle Corridor through Kazakhstan will play an increasingly significant role in the global supply chain.
