The company designs these trams to match Line 1’s current fleet, ensuring consistency across the network. Each tram boasts a low floor, stretches 42 meters, and holds 280 passengers.
Tours emphasizes safety and accessibility, so CAF adds multi-purpose areas in every tram for convenience. These spaces welcome prams, bicycles, and wheelchairs, boosting usability for all riders.
Additionally, CAF customizes the trams to fit Tours’ specifications, enabling operation on both lines seamlessly. On-board energy storage powers them independently, skipping overhead wires for 2 kilometers.
This smart solution preserves Tours’ medieval charm and slashes infrastructure costs significantly for the city. Consequently, it blends modern transit with the upkeep of the urban landscape.
Famous for Gothic architecture, Tours expands its tram system, and Line 2 construction advances quickly. Spanning 12.5 kilometers with 22 stations, this line starts service in 2028.
Tours Tram Network Boosts Connectivity
Moreover, the Tours tram network enhances links between trams and buses, encouraging cycling and walking. New cycle lanes and pedestrian zones promote sustainable travel options citywide.
The extension connects key spots, including two hospitals, schools, and universities for 30,000 students. Cultural, sports, and leisure facilities also gain improved access along this route.
Tours Tram Network Drives Growth
CAF’s success follows wins in Montpellier and Marseille, strengthening its French market foothold. Favorable economic trends fuel public transit growth in France and Europe, aiding expansion.
Tours invests in uniting its metropolitan areas, and this tram project supports that aim effectively. Ultimately, the upgrade delivers residents and visitors more transport choices daily.
With 19 cutting-edge trams, CAF meets Tours’ demands, merging tech and tradition in urban planning. Thus, the city gears up for a sustainable future while honoring its legacy.
