New trains consume 40% less electricity than their predecessors, thanks to advanced solutions. The company uses silicon carbide traction converters, asynchronous motors, and LED lighting.
The manufacturer of these new trains remains undisclosed, adding mystery to the project. Previously, the operator partnered with Kinki Sharyo and Hitachi Rail for train production.

The Tobu Tojo line connects suburbs to central Tokyo, and fleet renewal was overdue. Thus, residents will enjoy faster, more comfortable travel by 2026.
The company actively promotes this project to spotlight its innovations and ambitions. Yet, exact delivery timelines for all 10 trains remain unspecified.
Renders sparked discussions among experts and passengers keen on railway developments. And this bolsters the operator’s standing as a leader in Japan’s transport sector.
